About the Durham Regional Police Service
The Durham Regional Police has more than 1300 members dedicated to public safety working around the region to support the mandate of the Service. DRPS is a public organization regulated by the Provincial Government, namely the Police Services Act, R.S.O. 1990. The Durham Regional Police Service is the 10th largest municipal police service in Canada, with approximately 1,300 sworn and civilian employees. We patrol over 2,500 sq. km east of Toronto and York Region, from the southeast shore of Lake Simcoe to the north shore of Lake Ontario. About 90 per cent of our population(approximately 650,000) live along the north shore of Lake Ontario.
